Interaction with Guests
Crew quarters are separate and self-contained. Captain Billy and Pat are down to earth, laid back and easy going. We're always available if you need us for anything. We will interact with you as much or as little as you prefer. We just want you to relax and enjoy your vacation!
Enjoy wonderful sunsets! Watch the cruise ships come in and leave port from Crown Bay. A swimming pool surrounds you! Once in a while we are lucky and get the opportunity to swim near the boat with dolphins. Allow the soothing sounds of the waves to lull you to sleep each night.
Opus is moored in Elephant Bay between Crown Bay Marina and Water Island, the smallest of the USVI islands. The Cyril E. King Airport (STT) is approximately 5 minutes from Crown Bay Marina, where we will pick you up in our 18' tender. Crown Bay Marina offers Gourmet Gallery for provisions, wines and deli. Tickles Dockside Pub where you can grab a drink and bite to eat. Scoops & Brew is your one-stop-shop for delicious hand crafted gelatos and sorbettos along with gourmet espresso drinks. Across the street, Crown Bay Center offers a lot of shopping and bar/restaurants.
Taxi service is available from Crown Bay Marina to take you places to shop and explore St. Thomas or catch a Safari taxi that can take you around the entire island for $2.00! One of many places to see, we suggest going to Mountain Top which is located on Crown Mountain, the highest peak of St. Thomas at 2100 ft above sea level. It is a great place to shop, enjoy one of their famous banana daiquiris and you can see over 20 different islands. Nearby Frenchtown has a great selection of bar/restaurants including Betsy's, The Twisted Cork and Pie Hole. Enkai near Haulover Cut is a great locals hangout and serves sushi as well as local cuisine.
We can take you to Water Island where you can enjoy beautiful Honeymoon Beach for swimming, having lunch and drinks on the beach, hike around the island, explore the remains of military fortifications, and Monday night is Movie Night on the beach. There is a ferry to get back and forth from Crown Bay Marina.
You can catch a ferry and easily spend a whole day on St. John, which 60% of its land area is national park. A few steps from the Cruz Bay dock, the National Park Visitor Center is open for information, maps and brochures on local wildlife and trails throughout the National Park. Enjoy learning about St. John's tropical forest, petroglyphs and sugar mill ruins on your own or with a guide. St. John offers plenty of pristine beaches. Popular shopping areas include the unique shops of Mongoose Junction, Wharfside Village and quaint local shops in Coral Bay.
